Many turn to psychics for economic answers
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Psychic Debra Crossman has been giving people insight into the future for decades. She says her list of clients, like that of many psychics across the country, is growing.

"The holiday time is a very slow time and this year has been steady. I feel that it's because everybody's so much more nervous about what's coming, what is going to happen in their lives, so this is yet another way to have some assurance," said Crossman.

A number of businesses like New Process Gear and Syracuse China have had recent layoffs. Crossman says a lot of her clients now are especially concerned with job security.

"I can really pick up on the future and say jeepers, it doesn't seem like you're at that same job, ya know, so I can also tune into that company and figure out how they're feeling, if they're feeling stable or if I feel as though everybody's making a quick exit," said Crossman.

We spoke with some people who have mixed opinions on whether or not turning to a psychic during times of economic uncertainty could be helpful.

"I think it makes people feel better. It's a good idea. I personally wouldn't put faith in what a psychic says," said Steve McKergow of Canada.

"I don't know if it'll hurt you, but I guess I'd do other things first," said Elmira resident Laurie Liberatore.

"I think it's a good idea, I mean, why not? Something kind of cool and unique," said Jamie Harrington of Georgia.

It's a unique idea that more and more people are turning to for some sense of future stability.

"I'm not saying I'm going to be 100 percent accurate. Maybe I'm going to give you something you haven't thought of and that's really going to make a difference," said Crossman.

Crossman has gotten questions about everything from the stock market to relationships and says most of the time, her answers are pretty accurate!
