Art students show off talents
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Central New York gets crafty this week as the 2009 Scholastic Art Competition begins.

More than 5,000 works of art have been submitted by junior and senior high school students. Student art work will be judged for national competitions and local recognition. Some winning pieces will earn the students cash awards and scholarships.

The director of the Central New York Scholastic Art Awards says the competition is great art exposure for both the community and students.

More than 1,000 winning works will be on display at OCC's Whitney Applied Technology Center January 23rd through March 6th.
