Community healing event for ACA

Community healing event for ACA
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The community came together once again as they continue to try and heal from the shootings at the American Civic Association on April 3rd.

Several dozen people turned out for an evening of music and motivational speaking from local speaker Jane Ehrich and Nashville-based composer Shawn Gallaway.

The theme of the evening was opening your heart to love and using different methods to express deep emotions.

"What we hope to do is create an atmosphere of love and support tonight so that they can move forward in the most positive way," said Ehrich, who helped organize the event.

"The whole process of healing, the arts are just critical. There are things that are said in an artful way that can get to the soul of the healing," added Gallaway.

Gallaway wrote an original song to reflect on the ACA events and also performed "I Choose Love," which he wrote after the 9/11 attacks.

Some of the victim's families and survivors also attended.
