WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- A state Supreme Court judge has denied a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against the Diocese of Rochester. A former Watkins Glen man is suing the Rochester diocese and its bishop, claiming he was sexually abused by a priest.

Jason Hartley says Father David Bonin, a former priest at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen, started abusing him when he was around 10 years old. That was back in 1998.

Bonin has since died, but Hartley claims Bishop Matthew Clark and the Rochester Diocese are responsible for not doing enough to protect him and others from the abuse. Lawyers for the Diocese had motioned to dismiss the complaint, but a judge denied it.
