NEW YORK STATE -- Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for a nationwide movement to include calorie counts on menus.

Gillibrand announced Friday that she's co-sponsoring legislation to require all chains restaurants to post nutrition facts on menus. The bill is called the Menu Education and Labeling Act, or MEAL.

Gillibrand released a statement saying, "As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I am working to combat child obesity and improve nutrition for all New Yorkers....This commonsense legislation will give parents and other consumers the basic information they need to make good choices about their diet when they're eating out at restaurants."
