Local store doing lead testing of toys
LAFAYETTE, N.Y. -- Kids all over are now playing with their new toys, but if you're worried some of them might contain lead one local store can help.

The owner of No Strings Attached in LaFayette will test the items free of charge.

Tim Gilchrist uses a high tech x-ray flourescence device to make sure the toys are safe.

"There've been a lot of concerned parents and grandparents coming in wondering 'Is this toy safe? How do I know if a particular toy is a good toy for my child? Can they get lead poisoning from it?' We want to reassure people that the majority of their toys are safe," said Gilchrist.

Gilchrist says he's also making an effort to test items at daycares, pre-schools, churches, and doctors offices.
