Authorities charge husband with wife's murder
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Tompkins County District Attorney Gwen Wilkinson has charged 24-year-old Blazej Kot with second-degree murder for the death of his wife, Caroline Coffey. The 28-year-old Cornell researcher died of a massive cut to her neck.

Police found Kot in the park Tuesday night and chased him five miles before he crashed his vehicle into some trees. He attempted suicide by cutting himself as officers approached.

Kot was arraigned from his hospital room in Sayre, Pennsylvania Thursday night, where he is recovering from his injuries. He is being held without bail pending extradition to the State of New York.

Kot's lawyer, Joseph Joch ,told us, "This is a very confused picture at this point. There are a lot of mysteries that have yet to be answered."
