Man arraigned in wife's death
ALBION, N.Y. -- "I'm just really sorry about what happened, that's about it," said Patrick McLeod after his arraignment Tuesday.

McLeod is charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife Marie McLeod. He was arraigned at the Altmar-Albion Town Court, where the judge gave details of the crime he's accused of committing.

"You did intentionally cause the death of Marie K. McLeod, date of birth 8-17-62, by striking her several times with a baseball bat and stabbing the victim several times with a knife," said Howard Allen Jr., the Albion town justice.

McLeod entered a mandatory plea of not guilty because he did not have an attorney.

Documents provided by the Altmar-Albion court say that on Monday morning, McLeod pulled up to the State Police barracks in Pulaski. The documents show that McLeod told one of the officers he was having domestic problems that were as bad as they could get. He then told the officer he killed his wife.

"At this point in time, the defendant is being held without bail until further proceedings. That's pursuant of the statute," said Mark Moody, the Oswego County Assistant District Attorney.

Marie McLeod leaves behind a son who police say lives in Syracuse.

Patrick McLeod said he spoke to his step son early Tuesday morning.

"He told me he loved me and he wants to see me," McLeod said.

McLeod's next court appearance is scheduled for July 20th and it may be moved to county court.
