Extradition hearing for murder suspect
TOWANDA, Pa. -- The Ithaca man accused of killing his wife last week is now in Pennsylvania, trying to fight extradition back to New York.

Police say Blazej Kot, 24, murdered his wife, Caroline Coffey, and dumped her body along a wooded trail in Taughannock Falls State Park.

When officers went to arrest Kot, they say he took off in his car and later cut his throat. They rushed him to a hospital in Pennsylvania for treatment, but are now facing the task of bringing him back across state lines to face a second degree murder charge.

Kot's attorney says he should not be extradited because he didn't leave the state willingly and is not a fugitive. He also argues that the arrest and arraignment in the middle of the night were illegal.

Kot is currently being held in jail in Pennsylvania. An extradition hearing will be set within the next 15 days.
