ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The trip is part of a web based program known as YouthWorks which helps coordinate short term youth mission trips.
A few of the members of this church here in Van Buren say most of these teenagers have never taken a trip like this and it will certainly be a life changing experience for them. This trip will take place from July 12th through the 17th.
The teens ranging from 16 to 19 and their leaders will head to the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia where much improvement is needed.
The group will spend time assisting people with physical and spiritual needs including fixing up homes and working with less fortunate children.
Many of these teens spend a lot of time locally assisting people in Onondaga County as well, while organizers say they are truly dedicated to helping others.

"They really really want to help. They want to see how their lives can make a difference in others lives. And, they want to experience that for themselves. You know I think they live in this age of computer age and have so much input and I think they're kind of ready to give back,” said Cathy Cronk, Mission Team Leader.
The majority of students going on this trip are from different parts of Onondaga County but are all members of this church.
In addition to their work they will also get a chance to enjoy a bluegrass concert in West Virginia.
The total cost of the trip per student is about $260. The group has been doing a lot of fund raising but donations to help them are certainly welcome here at the church and if you'd like to help make a donation, you can visit www.christcommunityumc.com/index_files/Missions.htm
