Governor Paterson sits down for Capital Tonight interview
ALBANY, N.Y. -- In the wake of the government gridlock, the already embattled Governor has seen his authority, and his resolve, tested. Some in the Capitol are even going so far as to quite viciously question his character.

In 16 minute interview, Governor Paterson spoke candidly about the criticism he has been leveled against him. And his efforts that seem to have fallen flat. Paterson says he will continue to do whatever is in his power to end the gridlock, including withholding pay, not reimbursing stipends and not releasing the Senators’ member items. He even asked you, the people of New York, to send suggestions to him.

“At times like this, sometimes the greatest suggestions come from an unlikely source. People watching the program tonight, if this, any way that you think that your Governor can put an end to this stalemate, this embarrassment, this national tragedy that's taking place right here in New York, we would love to hear from you and we'd love to hear your suggestions,” Paterson said.

Paterson also added some insight into how long this stalemate could play out, suggesting that we may be dealing this problem for many more weeks.

“These types of things have happened before. We're only three weeks into it. I do have the fear that it could go on for a long period of time, but I want to tell my fellow New Yorkers tonight, I will use any and all the powers of this office to bring this issue to a close as soon as possible,” Paterson said.

The Governor has called special sessions for 3 p.m. every day through the weekend. And, if the Governor's words are any indication, they may be here for much longer.
