Eight killed in wrong-way Taconic crash
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a car crash on the Taconic Parkway in Westchester County has killed eight people, including four young cousins and a woman of the same family.

State police say their minivan was heading the wrong way in the northbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor on Sunday afternoon when it crashed head-on into an SUV. It also struck a third vehicle. The minivan spun into an embankment and burst into flames.

It was the second wrong-way crash on the parkway Sunday.

The woman driving the minivan and four of the five children inside it were killed. They were part of a family from Floral Park and West Babylon, on Long Island. A fifth child is hospitalized.

Police say the woman was the mother of the surviving child. They say the other children were her nieces and her daughter - all under
age 10.

Three people in the SUV were killed.
