ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- It's a toy people around the world have played with for decades and now it has bounced its way into the National Toy Hall of Fame. The ball was inducted Thursday along with the Big Wheel and the Gameboy at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester. The toys were selected from a list of more than 200 toys.

Toys have to meet three requirements to be inducted. They must be iconic, have longevity and have one more important quality.

"Third, these are toys that encouraged learning, creativity, discovery. These aren't the toys that you press a button, it does everything and you're bored in five minutes and you start playing with the cardboard box it came in, which, by the way, is in the Hall of Fame," said National Toy Hall of Fame Curator Christopher Bensch.

The National Toy Hall of Fame was established back in 1998.
