TOWN OF HENDERSON, N.Y. -- Property owners in the Town of Henderson get a chance to speak out on the plan to construct a power line through parts of Jefferson and Oswego counties. It is the latest step in the application process for a proposed wind farm on Galloo Island.

Upstate New York Power Corporation wants to build 84 turbines. A 50 mile long power line would then run south through Oswego County where it would connect with lines coming out of the area's nuclear plants and connect with the statewide grid.

Henderson officials are critical of the plan.

"We are appalled that such a plan has come so far in total disregard for this community. We ask the Public Service Commission to make a thorough review of the content of the comprehensive land use plan," said Bob Ashodian with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce

"We've been appalled, not at you (PSC members), but at the secrecy of this process, this is not acceptable," said Henderson Chamber of Commerce president Karl Williams.

Town officials are worried building the transmission line will lead to the construction of more wind farms.
