SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some caring Syracuse University students gave back to the community Sunday hosting the first ever Thanksgiving Unity Celebration.

The dinner was hosted by SU's Project Feed Me, which raised all the money for the event by hosting a basketball tournament last month. More than 300 families came in for a hot meal, entertainment, and to share in the spirit of the holidays.

"Not only does it provide food for people that might not otherwise be able to have a nice hot sit-down meal. The thing I like most about these events, this event, is that it brings people together that might not be together if not for this event,” said Leah Moushey, project co-founder.

In addition to feeding families at Sunday's event, Project Feed Me also handed out 60 turkeys.
