WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- An overnight fire in the City of Watertown leaves eleven people without homes. The fire started at about 3:30 Friday morning at 131 North Indiana Avenue.
Everyone was able to get out safely, but the second floor was destroyed and there was smoke and water damage on the first floor.
Extra crews from the city and Fort drum had to be called in to help put the fire out.
"When we arrived we had heavy fire on the second floor, fire was venting out the second floor windows, our crews made an aggressive interior attack, knocked down the fire, the Rescue Company assisted with getting everyone out of the structure," said Chirs Hayman with the Watertown FD.
The street was closed for several hours while crews fought the fire.
No word yet on a cause.
