SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Mayor-elect Stephanie Miner has named the city's next police and fire chiefs. She announced Thursday morning that current Deputy Chief Frank Fowler will serve as chief of police and current District Chief Mark McLees will serve as fire chief.
David Barrette has been named Fowler's first deputy chief, while Charlie Duffy will serve as McLees' first deputy chief.
"They are men of tremendous integrity and a tremendous work ethic. And dedicated to the people of the city as they have shown in their service to the city, in the ranks. They are respected by their peers. They are respected by the people of this city," said Miner.
Fowler has been with the Syracuse Police Department since 1989. McLees has been with the Fire Department since 1985.
