Red Cross helping Haiti
Emergency crews on the ground continue to search for survivors after a powerful 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti. More than 100,000 people are feared dead in the aftermath of the quake that hit just 10 miles outside the capital of Port-au-Prince. The Haitian Red Cross is leading efforts on the ground. Locally, the Red Cross is asking for your help. Jaime Kazlo has the details.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Red Cross said they have been inundated with calls from local residents who want to help with relief efforts in Haiti. But they said there are ways you can help from your own home.
Right now, the Red Cross is asking for financial donations. Red Cross International is donating $1 million to the relief efforts in Haiti. That was upped from $200,000 after the severity of the quake was known.
Siobhan Kent from the Red Cross said they haven't been instructed to send blood supplies down to Haiti yet. But if they are asked, they will let the public know as soon as possible.
And if you want to volunteer in Haiti, Kent said the Red Cross requires their volunteers to be trained before heading into a disaster area.
For those who are helping out in Haiti, she said their mission will continue to change.
"Right now we are in a recovery and relief operation doing first aid supplies, setting up shelters and doing all of those initial things," Kent said. "In the next couple of days, it will transition into mass feeding, mass sheltering, mass first aid and blood delivery. So we really need people to make financial donations to support that effort."
The Better Business Bureau is warning those who want to make a donation to be careful of fake charities that usually pop up after a disaster.
