CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A downstate lawmaker is looking to implement strict regulations on the dairy industry after seeing video of alleged animal cruelty that goes on at farms around the country.

A non-profit group called Mercy for Animals has been circulating a tape to politicians everywhere, trying to get them to take action. They say it was recorded undercover on a farm in Cayuga County.

The video is much more intense than what you're seeing here. It goes on to show a farm worker lopping off a calf's tail and burning off its budding horns.

The group claims this is not uncommon within the industry. They are planning to be in Syracuse Wednesday to release the video to the media and call for an investigation. We'll be there and follow up on this story Wednesday.
