WEEDSPORT, N.Y. -- Will convicted murderer, Stacey Castor, be tried for killing her first husband, Michael Wallace? It's been a year since she was found guilty of killing her second husband, David Castor, by poisoning him with antifreeze.
Castor was also found guilty of attempting to murder her daughter, Ashley Wallace. During testimony, Castor tried pinning the death of both men on Ashley.
Michael Wallace died in Weedsport in 2000. An autopsy was never performed, but his death certificate shows he died of a heart attack. During the initial investigation, Wallace's body was exhumed and traces of anti-freeze were found in his liver.
A Cayuga County district attorney says they have the transcripts from the Castor trial and are preparing. But he says they're in a holding pattern with the Wallace family. And that they don't intend on moving forward until Ashely Wallace is ready.
"We're holding off, trying to get her in a position where she's comfortable moving forward, rather than forcing her to move forward before she's ready. And the family is supportive of that at the moment, so the good news is that Michael Wallace's killer is in prison until age 90. And there's no statute of limitations. So we can move forward whenever she's ready to go," said Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann.
We reached out to Ashely Wallace. Our phone call was not returned.
Stacey Castor was sentenced to 51 years to life for the murder of her second husband and the attempted murder of her daughter.
