SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse United Neighbors is fishing for loan sharks and answers at Bank of America. SUN members rallied outside of the main offices on Clinton Street Friday, demanding a detailed report of the bank's lending record for the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County.

The group believes big banks such as Bank of America are redlining neighborhoods and denying loans to low income families, leaving them no other options but sub-prime lenders.

SUN says data from 2006 shows Bank of America made only ten loans to the Southside that year and members believe more recent reports would show similar statistics.

"Once we get all the figures that we are asking for, we can prove that there are more loans being made outside the city than there are in the Southside,” said Barb Devoice, SUN Board Member.

We contacted Bank of America and a spokesperson released a statement which reads in part:

"Earlier today, protestors entered our Clinton Square banking center, which caused a disruption for our customers. After asking the group to leave several times, we had no choice but to notify the authorities. We obtained the organization's contact information and plan on walking them through the proper steps to obtain the requested information."
