ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 46-year-old general contractor has claimed Essex County's first New York lottery jackpot of 2010.

Michael Vice picked up a Set for Life scratch-off ticket at C&G Petroleum in Ticonderoga back in February and a couple scratches later, he became a millionaire. Vice was presented with a check for $5 million, which he will receive in several annual payments.

Vice says it took a while for it to sink in that he was an actual lottery winner.

"Didn't want to believe it at first because it was unbelievable that 'life' was underneath that number. So I said to my girlfriend, 'pull over' and she checked the ticket. It was just a real shock. I didn't really know what to do with it," Vice said.

Vice plans to put the winnings toward a vacation with his son and he'll cut back on his work hours.
