SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Middle school students in Syracuse are learning all about environmental science. More than 500 kids gathered at SUNY ESF on Thursday to enter projects for the annual science fair.
Ideas were based on different experiments that help benefit the environment. Students enjoyed doing their own research, but learned most by looking at other displays.
"I get to see what my other friends are doing and they inspire me a lot. We worked really hard on it. So it was really fun," said Destiny Finney, a Clary Magnet student.
"Just by glancing at all the different projects, I've learned so much. It's just amazing how students my age, including myself. If they work on something, they can produce a lot of information," said Jacob Greenfeld, a student at H.W. Smith.
Teachers hope the excitement from the fair will translate into the classroom or even a career in science.
