SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Crunch are trading in their Blue Jackets. The team is ending its affiliation with Columbus after 10 years and signing with the Anaheim Ducks starting with the 2010-2011 season.
Anaheim has made the NHL playoffs the past four seasons, winning the Stanley Cup in 2006 and their AHL affiliates have advanced to the conference finals twice since 2006.
Crunch owner Howard Dolgon says while fans may notice some changes, in many ways the team will stay the same.
"We were the Crunch when we were part of Vancouver, we were the Crunch with Columbus and we'll be the Crunch. We will have a uniform color change after 10 years, but I think that's something exciting that our fans are probably anxious to see as well," Dolgon said.
The multi-year deal with Anaheim could be extended up to six years.
