SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Taxi drivers got a free lunch at one Syracuse hotel in honor of Taxi Appreciation Day.

The Jefferson Clinton Hotel downtown offered free burgers, hot dogs, salads and soda to cabbies who stopped by. The hotel first started offering the lunch in 2008 when then-mayor Matthew Driscoll declared June 17thTaxi Appreciation Day.

"It means so much to us because they, you know, it shows us that the public and the hotel and everybody here cares about the cab business and they care about us and we do appreciate that," said Syracuse cab driver John Totari.

Thankfully, the rain held off long enough for the event to be held outside.
