ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Authorities in the North Country are investigating a murder-suicide at a home in De Kalb Junction. It happened at a house on County Route 19.

Deputies arrived just before 9 a.m. after receiving a 911 call asking for help. Inside, Jeffrey Paquette, 43, and his wife, Denise Paquette, 44, were both found dead.

Authorities believe Paquette shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

"Based on the circumstances that are there, both people reside there, there was a hand gun involved in both deaths. Based on the circumstances and part of the investigation, that's what it's looking like at this point," says Kevin Wells, St. Lawrence County Sheriff.

The Sheriff says autopsies are planned for Friday.
