UNITED STATES – U.S. senators continue to investigate the early release of convicted Pan Am 103 bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi. They believe BP and other British businesses are connected to the early release of the convicted Libyan terrorist.

In an effort to dig up more details on the release, a group of senators wrote to the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom. The letter listed examples showing trade interests could have benefited from the release.

Al-Megrahi was convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing that killed 270 people. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and released last year on compassionate grounds after doctors said he had just three months to live.
