ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- How many of you have actually tried to parallel park since your driving test? Or do you circle around the block to find a spot you can simply just pull into? Well now, new technology is designed to take the stress off your hands, literally.
Representatives from Ford Motor Company were at Syracuse University Friday showing off some of their new innovations, among them a 2011 Ford Explorer that can park itself. They were demonstrating several other features as well, including rear seat inflatable seat belts.
Things once seen only as a fantasy in movies like "Back to the Future" are now becoming a reality.
"'Wouldn't it be neat if?', right, and that's all it takes for an engineer to hear and off they go. You know, today kind of demonstrates a lot of exciting innovation that probably started off with 'wouldn't it be neat if,'" said Brian Spahn of the Ford Motor Company.
Spahn says Ford is also touting Hands-Free Voice Activated Sync, similar to features on cell phones. They say they're pushing to prevent distracted driving and keep your hands on the wheel.
