ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Construction union members from throughout Upstate New York gathered outside the Holiday Inn to protest Carl Paladino's appearance and they didn't come empty handed. Members brought an inflatable rat, a message to the candidate about what they think of his politics.
"We're here today representing the building trades of upstate and northern New York and we want to welcome Carl Paladino with this rat because we feel that Carl Paladino does not represent the interests of working families in upstate New York, and for that matter, the entire state of New York," said Chris Poole, of the Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 58.
Union members also brought signs urging Paladino to go back to Buffalo.
