DEERFIELD, N.Y. -- Three men were hurt, one seriously, after they fell from a tower at the WKTV studio in Deerfield.
State Police say the three workers are employed by Alpha Antenna Services and were hired to do some repair work on the 350 foot tower. They were in the process of being hoisted up by a cable system and were 20 to 30 feet up when the top portion of the tower buckled over. All three fell to the ground.
Police say William Fox, 49, suffered severe injuries to his face. Another employee hurt his foot. All three were taken to the hospital.
As a result of the accident, the building was evacuated.
The station manager described the ordeal.
Station Manager Frank Abbadessa said, "I just heard through the intercom system that there had been an accident. I got up from my desk and came outside. I saw the gentlemen on the ground, people around them and heard the ambulances coming.'"
Local WKTV broadcasts were disrupted by the accident. Crews were on-scene to repair the tower shortly after the incident.
