St. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Eight weeks into the retrial for Wayne Oxley and the defense has rested its case.

Wayne Oxley is accused of beating his neighbor Bernard Trickey Jr. to death with a baseball bat in 2005. Oxley was convicted in 2006, but the decision was overturned last year when a judge ruled a key witness shouldn't have been allowed to testify.

The defense wrapped up its case late Wednesday afternoon. However, the prosecution will call a couple of rebuttal witnesses.

That testimony will continue Thursday morning.
