MANLIUS N.Y. -- Students at one area high school are getting closer to playing on a brand new turf field. The Fayetteville-Manlius school board has approved design plans for the new all-weather sports field.

And a volunteer group known as known as the F-M Community Sports Facility Association has now raised $1 million through private donations. The total cost is estimated at $1.8 million.

The group has until March 1 of next year to reach their goal in order for construction on the field to be done for the fall 2011 sports season.
