SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Monday was a day to say farewell to one of Syracuse's long time common councilors. He's now leaving for a new job after seven years in office.
It won't be William Ryan's last appearance at a common council meeting. He is taking over as the city's director of administration starting the first of the year, which means he will attend the council sessions on a regular basis, but as a representative of the Miner administration and not as a city lawmaker.
Councilors say they have not made any decisions yet on who might succeed Ryan. The democratic majority has asked for resumes from those interested in filling out the councilor's term.
