NEW YORK STATE -- Senator John DeFrancisco has been named the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos says DeFrancisco will play a significant role in the Governor's proposed state budget.

Senator DeFrancisco said this on his new appointment: "I am anxious and excited to begin the hard work that is needed to remedy our State's financial situation. I am looking forward to working with Governor Cuomo toward the passage of a budget that serves the interests of all New Yorkers."

DeFrancisco and his committee will be responsible for reviewing appropriation bills as well as reviewing nominations for appointments by the Governor.
