LAFAYETTE, N.Y. -- This meeting was canceled back on December 7 of last year after a substantial snowstorm hit the area. DOT officials then rescheduled it for January 12 but on that day too, Mother Nature got her way again and it was decided that the meeting would be held off until the spring.
So finally, tonight the public meeting has been scheduled again to discuss improvements to the intersection of Routes 20 and 11. The $5 million project is being proposed to reconstruct the busy intersection and the area around it.
Proposed changes include pavement work, drainage, and new traffic signals. An eastbound turn lane would also be installed and the I-81 north ramp would be re-aligned.
If approved work on the project would begin in 2013 and last for two years.
Tonight's meeting will take place in the LGI Room at LaFayette High School on Route 11. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
DOT officials say the meeting will include a brief technical presentation about the proposed changes. Then, DOT representatives will be available to answer any questions the public may have.
