BRITAIN -- Scottish prosecutors say they want to interview former Libyan foreign minister Moussa Koussa about the 1988 Lockerbie bombing that killed 270 people, including 35 Syracuse University students.

Moussa Koussa resigned and defected to Britain yesterday.

Britain's foreign secretary says Koussa has not been offered immunity from justice. That's dampening speculation that the British government might overlook allegations from Libya's opposition that Koussa played an important role in the bombing.

Meanwhile, Senator Charles Schumer says if Libyan rebels want long-term support from the U.S., they should agree to send the man convicted of the bombing back to prison.

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was released from a Scottish prison in 2009 on compassionate grounds because he has prostate cancer. At the time of his release, doctors gave him just three months to live. Now, Senator Schumer says any recognition for the opposition movement in Libya should carry a condition that al-Megrahi be extradited from the country.
