SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- An Onondaga County man will spend up to 15 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a child. Connor Izard, 26, was sentenced Monday morning in Onondaga County Court.

Izard pleaded guilty to predatory sexual assault against a child last month. Investigators say Izard befriended a 12-year-old girl in an internet chat room, then sexually abused her for two months last spring.

Prosecutors hope Izard stays behind bars for good, because they say he is a parent's worst nightmare.

"People like Connor Izard, who believe they should be able to have a sexual relationship with children are out there looking for kids and now with the technology, sometimes have access to kids," said Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Cali.

Izard was already a level one sex offender after being convicted in a similar case three years ago.
