ELMIRA, N.Y. -- An Elmira man police have been looking for after his girlfriend disappeared has been arrested on felony fraud charges. David Perry was taken into custody following a traffic stop on I-86 in Allegany County Thursday night.
Police have been looking for Perry since March when his girlfriend, Kelly Rothwell, disappeared in Florida.
Authorities say Perry has refused to cooperate in the search for Rothwell.
Perry was arrested on a warrant out of Broome County.
According to police, he fabricated an injury while working as an officer at the Elmira Correctional Facility to qualify for disability retirement in 2003. He's now being charged with second-degree grand larceny, insurance fraud and fraudulent insurance practices.
Perry has not been charged in connection with Rothwell's disappearance.
