ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A topic of discussion in Tuesday's Onondaga County legislature meeting was the on-going debate of Off-Track Betting.

Legislators voted seven to 12 against a proposal to allow a facility in the county.

Supporters of the proposal say Off-Track Betting could generate one million dollars. But opponents are worried it would only lead to corruption.

"I don't believe that it's wise for government to be investing and trying to build the economy on the backs of the people it's designed to serve, so we're thankful that it's been defeated," said Rev. Jason McGuire of the New Yorker's Family Research Foundation.

Off-Track Betting has been a re-occurring issue for Onondaga County since the '90s.
