Alleged bank robber arraigned

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The man Watertown police say walked into a Key Bank yesterday afternoon and demanded money from two tellers was arraigned on 3rd degree robbery charges this morning.
Police say William Pitoniak did not display a weapon, but did leave the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. He is also facing 15 other vehicle and traffic violations stemming from his attempted getaway.
Patrols spotted his SUV shortly after the robbery, and attempted to stop it. Police say after a short car chase, Pitoniak started running on foot but they were able to catch him.
A city judge set Pitoniak's bail at $40,000.
