UTICA, N.Y. -- The man who allegedly shot and killed Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Wyman has now been officially charged with murder.
Oneida County DA Scott McNamara says Christian Patterson, 40, was arraigned at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica Thursday afternoon. He's charged with one count of aggravated murder.
Police say Patterson shot Wyman June 7th following a standoff at his Knoxboro residence that lasted several hours. He was also shot when officers returned fire and has been recovering in the hospital since.
The charge could result in a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
