SYRACUSE, N.Y -- A Syracuse non-profit organization opened their first offices since starting up two-and-a-half years ago.

"Hope for Heather" raises money for ovarian cancer research, along with community education and support. The foundation was started by the parents of Heather Weeks, who died of cancer at age 24.

Heather's mother says the need in the community was far greater then when they began.

Frieda Weeks, President of "Hope for Heather", said, "We couldn't have done it without the support of the community. And we hope that today is a day of turning promise into action and signifies our growth in the community and we're looking forward to where this can take us and hopefully the bottom line in all of the things we do is saving a life."

The organization has a booth at the New York State Fair and is also holding its Teal Ribbon Walk and Run this September at the Inner Harbor.
