DELAWARE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Stamford man is dead after being hit by a car in Delaware County. State Police say it happened just before 5 a.m. Sunday on State Route 10 in the Town of Harpersfield.

A vehicle hit Brett Barnett, 20, who was laying in the road. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's still not clear why he was in the road at the time. Police say the incident is still under investigation.
