LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. -- His grandfather founded one of the biggest tobacco companies in the country, but Patrick Reynolds travels the nation talking about the dangers of smoking.

Reynolds is the grandson of R.J. Reynolds who created the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, which created Winston and Camel cigarettes. He's also the executive director of The Foundation for Smokefree America.

Patrick Reynolds was in Lowville Thursday talking to students, parents and the public about tobacco's impact on society and children.

"They say you find our calling inside your deepest wound sometimes. The ex-alcoholic becomes a good speaker on alcohol. Yes, I was a smoker. My dad died from smoking and I get to make a difference. That's why I do what I do," Reynolds said.

Reynolds says 60 percent of smokers start by the age of 14 and 90 percent by 19.
