OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Oswego County officials want residents to be on alert for an email scam.

County Clerk George J. Williams says at least two people have reported receiving emails labeled "Uniform Traffic Ticket," from a sender claiming to be the DMV. The message says the person owes money and then directs them to a website link that could contain a virus.

Department of Motor Vehicles officials say they do not send out tickets in this manner.

Anyone who receives a message titled "Uniform Traffic Ticket" is advised not to open it and then delete it.
