ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A milestone announcement for the ProAct Prescription Drug Card Program in Onondaga County.

The program was developed as a way to help people save money through discounted prescription prices. Every county resident is eligible to receive a free card and to participate in the discount card program.

Over 100 pharmacies in Onondaga County accept the card and Thursday, the program's manager announced record savings.

"Since 2007, as Bill mentioned, there has been a little over 140,000 scripts filled using this program, amounting to over $10 million in savings," said Erison Rodriguez, Discount Card Program Manager.

More than 55,000 pharmacies across the country accept prescription drug cards.
