UTICA, N.Y. -- Some Mohawk Valley youngsters got a jump on some Halloween fun at the Children's Museum in Utica with their Annual Boo Bash.
Dressed up in their favorite costumes, children explored the museum's four floors of interactive learning exhibits, especially decorated for the Halloween holiday. They learned new tricks with arts and crafts and were treated to a haunted Iroquois Hall and even a costume contest. Prizes were given out for toddlers and older kids, including prettiest, scariest and most original.
The museum director says the boo bash is all about combining the fun of the season, with learning.
Marlene Brown, Children's Museum Executive Director, said, "The parents don't tell them where to go, the kids lead and the parents will follow because the kids will go from exhibit to exhibit to exhibit. They're learning while they're doing these hands on exhibits in that non-traditional setting. They don't know they're learning."
Costumed party-goers even got to use their imaginations to fly the friendly skies from the museum's fourth floor airplane exhibit.
