ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The DeWitt Town Hall has unveiled its new solar panels. The new roof is better insulated to help keep the building at a comfortable temperature, and the solar panels will dramatically cut down on electric costs.
The solar panels will produce almost 55,000 kilowatt hours and will save close to $8,000 in the first year of operation. This is just one of several projects the Town of DeWitt has instituted to cut costs and help improve the environment.
"We've established a sustainability policy and one of the initiatives in our policy is to reduce our carbon footprint and to lower energy costs," said Town of DeWitt Supervisor Ed Michalenko.
The DeWitt Town Hall also installed new energy efficient lighting throughout the building.
