ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The woman accused of killing her baby and leaving it in a Liverpool dumpster last winter has been indicted by a grand jury. Nicole DeJaynes, 29, is charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.
Police were called to the Pearl Street Apartments in the early morning hours of January 7th after a man reported seeing what he thought was a baby in a dumpster. Authorities say DeJaynes gave birth in an apartment at the complex where she had been staying with friends.
A medical examiner determined that the baby was born alive and was later suffocated.
