ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Absentee ballots have been counted in the race for Ogdensburg Mayor. The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections Commissioner says they give incumbent Bill Nelson an 11-vote lead.

The Republican faced a challenge from local businessman Jack McGrath who ran as an independent and was endorsed by the Democratic committee.

The election came amid controversy over a city-owned home that a family lived in for free for three years. Both candidates blamed the city manager, who denied any wrongdoing.

The Elections Commissioner says the results of counting have not yet been certified.
